Benchrest Captain’s Report

Last Winter 30 Pinhoe members entered in the Devon Benchrest Winter League with the A team winning Division 1, which was a fantastic achievement.

Alongside this competition there was an internal competition run for beginners, new shooters to PTSC, and those who were not shooting in the Devon Winter League. This was well supported and gave these shooters the confidence to join with league competitions.

We had several members shooting in the Cambridge Target Shooting Association League at 25yds. Another good result with 3 Pinhoe members winning their divisions.

The Pinhoe Rose Bowl league was shot at 50m. This was another internal competition to encourage benchrest shooters to try shooting at 50m. The prize for achieving the highest increase of their average over the competition, was won by Jeff May.

The first Pinhoe Benchrest Open Shoot was held at the end of June. It was very successful and certainly one we want to repeat next year. Members of Truro Rifle Club are keen to visit Pinhoe again. It would be good to have even more Pinhoe benchrest shooters supporting the shoot and taking part next year.

In the NSRA Summer league, Pinhoe came 2nd to Budleigh Farm. Hopefully we can beat them next year.

This Winter season there are 7 Pinhoe members shooting for Devon in the NSRA County Team League. Well done to those who were selected.

In Pinhoe’s internal 50m Winter league, there are 12 members taking part, some shooting at 50m for the first time. Outdoor benchrest shooting at Pinhoe has really come alive over the last year, with members shooting and winning  in open competitions at Budleigh Farm, Bideford and Bisley.

In the Devon Centenary open competition held at Budleigh Farm we again had winners bringing home lots of gold medals.

We are making our mark in shooting both at our club and further afield. 3 members shot benchrest at The National Championships held at Bisley – Chris Burrow, Paul Newbery and myself, with all of us winning competitions

Don’t forget that there are improvers sessions on a Monday evening so if you want some help or have questions to ask, then please come along from 7pm to 9 pm.

Good shooting for the next year!
