A Lot of Lead

Overall, it has been a fantastic few months for our shooters, and we are incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication that everyone has shown. Keep up the great shooting, and let’s continue this momentum into the next rounds!

Devon Winter League

The fourth round of the Devon Winter League is in the books, with the B team is putting in a strong performance. We no longer have an A team in the competition, but that hasn’t stopped our shooters from making their mark individually. Leading the charge in Division 1 is Tony Clay, currently ranked seventh with 25 points and an impressive gun score of 795 (28x). Not far behind him is Tony Godden, who holds ninth place with 20 points and a score of 794 (25x). In Division 2, Tony Sprague has been on top form and is leading the division with 40 points and a remarkable gun score of 799 (19x). Close on his heels is Steve Meredith, currently sitting in third place with 33 points and a score of 795 (31x). Meanwhile, Martin Bond is dominating Division 3, holding the top spot with 42 points and a score of 797 (19x).

Further down the rankings, Mati C is performing well in Division 5, securing second place with 37 points and a gun score of 787 (16x). Division 6 sees Keith Langmead leading with an impressive 46 points and a gun score of 798 (27x), while Kat Yates is just behind in second place with 41 points and a score of 795 (21x). Over in Division 8, John Lewis has taken the top spot with 43 points and a gun score of 791 (14x).

NSRA Winter Short-Range Competition

Shifting our focus to the NSRA Winter Short-Range Competition, we currently have eight individual members competing, as well as three teams of three. After five rounds, our A team is ranked fifth in Division 2, our B team sits in third place in Division 3, and our C team is holding fourth place in Division 4.

Individually, we have seen some fantastic performances. Keith Langmead is leading the way in Division 7, taking first place. In Division 10, Andrew Vardon is holding second place, while in Division 13, Dawn Rice is also ranked second. Unfortunately, not all news is good news, as Rob Boulton currently finds himself at the bottom of Division 5, despite a solid gun score of 993 (21x). Meanwhile, Tony Godden is holding his own in Division 6, sitting in fifth place with a gun score of 993 (30x).

Cambridgeshire Postal League

In the Cambridgeshire Postal League, we have twelve individual shooters competing, alongside four teams of three. After six rounds, our A team is performing well and is currently in second place in Division 1. Our B team is leading the way in Division 2, while our C and D teams are both holding second place in Divisions 3 and 4, respectively. On an individual level, several of our shooters are excelling in their divisions. Tony SpragueKat YatesJeff May, and Colin Jones are all currently leading their respective divisions, with Sprague topping Division 9, Yates at the summit of Division 14, May dominating Division 15, and Jones taking charge of Division 20.

Yealmpton & District Christmas Shoot

Looking at our long-range competitions, the much-anticipated Christmas 50-meter shoot at Budleigh Farm had to be canceled due to severe weather forecasts, which included hurricane-force winds and heavy rain. Thankfully, we were able to reschedule the event for this month, and it turned out to be well worth the wait. We are thrilled to report that it was a clean sweep for Pinhoe! Tony Sprague claimed victory in A class, while Matt Lunn secured the top spot in B class. Not only that, but both prone classes were also won by Pinhoe shooters, making it a triumphant day for our club.

Pinhoe 50m Club Competition

Our own winter/summer 50-meter club competition is now well underway, with twelve shooters taking part. All cards are being shot on time, and scores are steadily improving, which is great to see.

British Benchrest Championship

Finally, on a personal note, I am delighted to share that I have managed to qualify for the final of the British Short-Range Benchrest Championship. It has been a challenging but rewarding journey, and I am looking forward to the competition ahead.
