RCO Courses and Pony Club Collaboration
This month we have been busy on the training front, with two RCO courses successfully completed. A special mention goes to one particularly dedicated attendee, who covered the cost of nine participants! These courses not only keep our club and others safe but also provide a valuable income stream. Huge thanks to David, Dan, Tibor, and Philip P for their hard work in running them.
Looking ahead, we’re planning our next RCO Course for May. This comes at a crucial time, as recent regulatory changes now require Pony Club ranges to have NSRA-qualified RCOs or YPS instructors. With an urgent demand for training, we’re in talks with the Pony Club’s National CEO about offering exclusive RCO courses at our club—watch this space for updates!
On the technical side, we’re incredibly grateful to our member Alex for providing a new training laptop. Plus, we’ve reinvested course funds into a new projector, both of which have already made a huge difference in delivering our training sessions—goodbye, last-minute tech panics!
National Recognitions & Coaching Pathways
Not only has Pinhoe TSC been named one of just four NSRA Performance Clubs, but we have now also been designated as a British Shooting Disability Club Hub. These awards put us in a stronger position for developing shooting pathways for aspiring athletes and disabled members.
As part of this, our Regional NSRA lead has invited us to run Rifle Coaching sessions for youth shooters, initially focusing on standing position. With three of our coaches now holding ISSF coaching licences, we’re working on securing sponsorship to fund better air rifles for 10m shooting.
Future Instructor & Coaching Courses
We anticipate running more NSRA Instructor and possibly NSRA Club Coach courses over the next six months, as new course materials and qualifications (including County Coach level) become available.
