With the merging of Pinhoe and three other Shooting Clubs it became necessary to increase the facilities available at the Pinhoe site.

Notable dates along the timeline:

August 2015…. The situation regarding the future of the clubs in Exeter was discussed and a long-term plan was floated.

By Early 2016 all clubs had been balloted ….and all clubs agreed to combine and support the project making Pinhoe a centre of excellence for target shooting.

May 2017 planning was approved.

April 2018 all clubs combined

May 2018 Sport England grant approved

September 2018 plans being brought up to building regs ready to commence the build.

We now had a start date for the build of our 2 new 25 metre indoor ranges and the new 10 metre air gun range which was Monday 3rd June 2019. The builder expects to be able to complete the work in 12 weeks.

June 18th 2019 at 9.30am we had an official ceremony of cutting the first sod which was performed by our President Dirk Bate-Jones and our property Trustees.

August 2019 the build has started and the earth moving has been almost completed as per the plans. However, we have hit a problem with the water table which in places seems close to our foundations. Particularly at the far end.

We have therefore had various meetings with architect, engineer and geologist to find a way forward that addresses these problems at a reasonable cost.

October 2019 We have just heard that we have secured a grant from Viridor to fit out the inside of our new range building – £50,000!

November 4th 2019 Planned recommencement of building work.

January 2020 Still waiting for a break in the weather to finish the foundations.

February 2020 Progress at last, the structural steelwork for the roof has been fabricated and is ready for galvanising.

Work on site due to recommence on Monday 2nd of March.

March 18th Materials delivered to site

Hopefully the builder will be pouring concrete into the foundations by the end of next week.

Due to the Coronavirus lockdown work has again had to be put on hold.

Work continues with the start of building, see PTSC Picture Diary – 2020
