About The Big Shoot

Shooters competing at Pinhoe TSC's Big Shoot, 2025.

The Big Shoot is Pinhoe TSC’s annual open — a weekend of NSRA-rules competition at the Scott Langley Range, bringing together two of our most popular formats. Visiting shooters from across the South West and beyond enter one or both.

The two competitions

Pinhoe 10m Air Pistol Open

2 days

Two days of air pistol competition built around three linked events.

Comp 1: 60 shots at 10m over 90 min (12 × 5)
Comp 2: 4 × 5 shots at 20yds turning targets (4s facing / 10s away)
Comp 3: Aggregate of 1 & 2

Classification: average of the best six of your last ten competition cards.

Air & Rimfire Benchrest Open

Air or .22

Open shoot for Air or Rimfire Benchrest Rifle, two-stage card.

Stage 1: 40 shots at 25m on NSRA 2510 BR15-18
Stage 2: 40 shots at 25yds on NSRA 2010 BR17-18
Ties: broken on 25yds Xs

Classification: submitted averages certified by an official of your club.

Air Pistol Open prizes

Competition 1: trophy for 1st place in all classes, medals for 2nd & 3rd

Classes

Three classes — A, B, and C — depending on entries, plus a Junior class.

You’re not competing against the national team on your first outing — class structure keeps the field fair.

Refreshments and the BBQ

Kitchen

Open throughout the weekend, serving hot and cold food and drinks — between details, before prize-giving, or whenever you need a break from the firing line.

The BBQ

A midday Pinhoe BBQ runs alongside the kitchen — the social highlight of the weekend, popular with both competitors and visiting club members.

Scott Langley Range · Pinhoe TSC

All shooting takes place on Pinhoe TSC’s 20-metre indoor multi-purpose range. Five firing points, electronic turning-target facility, climate-controlled.

Paused for 2026. The Big Shoot is on hold this year while the committee reviews the calendar. When it returns, it will be listed on the competition calendar with dates, entry forms, and booking instructions.
