Other Disciplines
Three target-shooting disciplines Pinhoe TSC doesn't host — and where to find clubs that do.
Why these aren't shot at Pinhoe
Pinhoe TSC's ranges and licensing are set up for indoor and 50m-outdoor smallbore and air disciplines. Three other major target-shooting disciplines fall outside what we host — but they're well worth knowing about, and the South West has good club options for each.
For each below: a brief description of the discipline, where it's typically shot, and the national body that can help you find a local club.
Full-bore Rifle
Bisley Camp · Devon-based fullbore clubsHigh-power centre-fire rifle shooting at ranges from 25 yards to over 1,000 yards. The classical UK home is Bisley Camp in Surrey; local clubs operate at smaller military or dedicated ranges.
Shotgun (Clay & Game)
Local clay grounds and shooting schoolsClay pigeon, game, and target shotgun disciplines — Olympic skeet and trap, English sporting, and many regional variants. Shot at dedicated clay grounds, typically outdoors.
Field Target
Outdoor field-target clubs across Devon, Cornwall, and SomersetAir rifle shot at metallic knock-down targets in outdoor woodland or field settings, typically 8–55 yards. A walking sport — closer to fieldcraft than range shooting. Strong club scene in the South West.
