Okehampton Junior Air Pistol Competition
Our junior shooters have achieved some remarkable results in recent weeks!
At the start of the month, several of our juniors, along with other club shooters, travelled to Okehampton for the air pistol competitions.
On the first day, competing in Class B, Ella Tucker scored 528 in the first competition and 518 in the second, earning her the open gold medal for her class, as well as golds for the aggregate and best junior.
She enjoyed it so much that she returned the following day and did it again! This time, she shot another 528, securing her top place in competition and claiming gold for Competition 2—a clean sweep.
In Class C, Alex Follows put in scores of 489/600 and 506/600 (a personal best), achieving an aggregate of 991 and taking home three gold medals.
In the team events, the Pinhoe team—Ella Tucker, Alex Follows, and Jamie Dixon—outscored Truro Ladies, securing first place with a score of 1500 to Truro’s 1476.
British Schools Pistol Competition
In November 2024, several of our junior members took part in the British Schools Pistol Competition at Leweston School near Sherborne, competing in the South Western regional heat.
With 40 shots at 10m, both Ella Tucker and James Dixon delivered strong performances, earning them spots in the National Final, held in Cannock this February.
At the final, 54 shooters competed in the junior class. Ella shot an impressive 174/200, just five points behind the leader at that stage, securing a place in the final shoot-off in 4th place. Jamie also put in a solid performance with 157/200, finishing in 20th place.
The top eight shooters progressed to the finals, which followed a classic sudden-death format, with the lowest scorer eliminated after every three shots. Ella battled through to secure 6th place—an outstanding achievement in a national competition!
